Chris Bonneau Memorial Photos

With the Memorial of Chris Bonneau down in history of MX and Off-road Racing, SGC would love to thank all of the supporters that came to Wild Rose MX Park who helped us remember the great memories they had with Chris. The stories were flying, the jokes were down in the dirt and smiles were everywhere to be seen! The sea of yellow showed support and was almost blinding!

RACE IS ON! July 30-31, 2011 Moose Mountain Hare Scramble, Fallen Timber

The weather has been beautiful out at Fallen Timber the past couple of days, so the trails are drying up nicely.  Campground has both loops open as well as extra room in the Day Use area of campsite (that's registration is).  Note that if you camp in Day Use area, you have to pay full price but it's fun and gives those with big units a bit of extra room.

Pre-Registration closes at Noon.  See below for tentative schedule.

This race is in memory of Dean Rodgers, the 'fastest one eyed racer'!  Dean was a very big part of this traditional race that has been going for over 50 years.  See you all out there!

UPDATE: Funeral/Celebration of Life for Chris Bonneau July 29th 11:00AM Wild Rose Motopark

Chris Bonneau, passed away July 20th.  The family has made arrangements for a Celebration of Chris' life at the Wildrose Motocross Association (Blackfoot) park at 11:00AM on Friday, July 29th, 2011.

If you have something yellow to wear, do so, would be a nice touch at the funeral.  It will be informal, so a yellow jersey works too.  There will be a luncheon after the service, if you are able to bring some squares or cookies...that would be wonderful.

Calgary motocross icon and friend to so many lost his battle with cancer today.  He will be gone from us in body but will live on in spirit.  He has connected with many of us with his quick wit and great sense of humour.

Matt Coonfers CEC-West Report: Western B Champion!

Kamloops, B.C.
July 9, 10, 2011

Sun Peaks Resorts hosted the first round of the WEC series and I was excited
to take it all in.  I’ve never been to Kamloops or the resort and was
surprised by the great facilities and fantastic scenery.

I walked the tests on the Friday and was excited to get the race underway.
My GasGas teammate, Chris Van Hove, helped me pick lines and work out a
strategy for the race.

Lexi Pechout's CEC Blairmore Report

Group photo of Women's class at Round 3 Blairmore
Bowridge Motorsports rider, Lexi Pechout, finishes 2nd Overall in the CEC Western Canadian Enduro championship series in the Women's class.

I loved the special tests.  I had a good day on Saturday but knew I could improve my times.
Chantelle Bykerk (Champion) and I were within seconds of each other at the end of both days despite the fact that we each shaved off more than 2 minutes overall on Sunday.

Calgary Motocross Icon and Club Member, Chris Bonneau in Calgary Hospice

Chris Bonneau
Calgary motocross icon and WRMA member since day one, Chris Bonneau's battle with cancer has taken an unfortunate turn for the worse.  Chris has entered a hospice and his time with us may be limited as he continues his battle with brain cancer.  Chris and his family are longtime members/participants of the Second Gear Club.  Through his riding schools, he coached many young riders to attain their riding dreams.  Chris was an inspirational person both on and off the track.  This long battle continues to prove his strength.  The entire Bonneau family benefits from visitors and welcome a friendly face!  Please show Chris, Anne, CJ and Brooklyn your support.  He is at the Care West Sarcee Hospice , 403 685-6460.
