Feb.19th Gull Lake Ice Race is ON! Oval and Sprint racing

Feb.19th Gull Lake Ice Race is ON! Oval and Sprint racing

Looking forward to seeing everyone out for Round 2 of the CMA National Oval (round 3 provincial points) AND Round 2 of the new style of racing, SPRINT!

Gull Lake has always been a popular National event.  Lots of action with two disciplines racing at the same time.  A 1/4 mile oval as well as a 1,500 meter two-way track similar to a go-kart track.  Next year we will be hosting each discipline on separate days as many of our racers want to participate in both forms.  Ice racing growing!!!

Come on out and enjoy a great day of racing and cheering on your favorite racers!  Stu McColl (Race City) will be announcing for us....he never misses a thing on the track!  You can hear his announcing through your FM radio station too.

Wildrose Concession will be out in the morning with coffee and breakfast ready and switching to more goodies for the afternoon.  The breakfast sandwiches were awesome last weekend!  Don't miss out!

The quad (ATV) classes have really stepped it up this year with 'on the edge of your seat' action!  Lots of spin outs in the UTV (side-by-side) class and the non-studded quads.  Be ready as the competition is full throttle!

The Baumann sisters had their work cut out for them last weekend at the Cow Lake National in the sidecar class with Steve Patriquin's rig battling for first place.

The motorcycle classes are full of action as well.  In the Expert class you have veteran racers like Ironman Monty Brown & 2011 Veteran Champion Sean Potter battling with young Experts Riley Stormoen and Matt Coonfer (2011 Rookie of the Year).  Experience and talent all mixed together.  Each heat different from the next.  Watch out for Yvo Schmucki (2011 Intermediate Champion) who seems to be up front in every class...where did he come from!  Intense!!

Then there are the girls mixed in every class of Novice, Intermediate, 2-stroke and non-studded ATV.  Watch for flowing pony tails as these girls make every man out there struggle for points and egos.  We have FAST girls this year!  Absolute excellent racing.  These girls are switching from small 250's to big 500's without batting an eyelash.   Even wheeling off the starting line doesn't seem to affect them.  We have such a wonderful group of racers that continue to offer technical advice to these young ladies all the while looking forward to racing bar to bar with them....sportsmanship makes this high competition, speed rushing racing so much FUN!
