May 26-27 Hare Scramble Cancelled

Hi Folks!  As in a previous blog, we noted that we were trying to relocate the previously scheduled Invermere race to Whispering Pines (Waiparous) May 26-27.  We almost managed to have all the paperwork and approvals pushed through at last minute but unfortunately, we are missing one approval from Parks Canada for the random camping/staging area that won't be processed in time.  The effort was not a waste as we now have all of our paperwork in for each event (a few changes this year...actually MORE paperwork).  Whispering Pines will now take place on it's originally scheduled date of Sep. 22-23, 2012.

I realize that some of you may be discouraged that our first hare scramble will not be until July 21-22, 2012.  However, for those of you that have been racing for many years, you will remember that it was quite normal to start the season in July.  June is the rainy season in Waiparous, so we will NOT be scheduling any events in June.  Enjoy and take advantage of the extra time to practice and we will look forward to seeing you all soon.

Have a wonderful long weekend and don't forget to register your motorcycles.  All motorcycles must be registered and insured for trail riding and racing on crown land.   Kids bikes too.  Only exemption we have for races is the headlight and taillight requirement.  TIP:  when registering bikes for individuals that do not have a license, such as kids bikes, they will have to be in parents name and the small bikes may be categorized as 'moped' type.

P.S.  Mitch has been working with the scanning systems people and we will have an opportunity to try out the updated system that allows for REAL TIME results.  Just a little something to look forward to as both rider and spectator will know position and distance behind previous racer.  Cool eh?!
