On Any Sunday - Next Chapter - Calgary Premier

Get your tickets now to attend the Calgary permiere of On Any Sunday: The Next Chapter, hosted by Red Bull.

Globe Cinema
617 8 Ave SW CalgaryAB T2P 1H1

Saturday, 13 December 2014 from 7:30 PM to 11:00 PM (PST)

The Second Gear Club and its Members are featured in this amazing 2nd chapter of the epic On Any Sunday. We are showing our stuff out Motorcycle Ice Racing!!!

We are so very excited to become part of history, all thanks to our AMAZING members and sponsors. WE LOVE YOU ALL!!

When On Any Sunday premiered in 1971, it wasn’t just any movie. Directed by Bruce Brown – who also helmed surfing classic The Endless Summer – this insider look at motorcycle racing reached a wide audience that was fascinated by the heartfelt stories of real-life riders, earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary Feature. Four decades later, On Any Sunday: The Next Chapter shows that the passion for riding motorcycles is as strong as ever.
Bruce’s son, acclaimed filmmaker Dana Brown, directs this modern take on the original, capturing what it means to ride in the United States and globally. Shot in 4K Ultra HD, the action and emotion are breathtaking: phenomenal athletes, revolutionary innovators, Hollywood stars and even visionaries who use moto to save lives. On Any Sunday: The Next Chapter journeys deeper into the humanity and excitement of motorcycle culture across disciplines – the passion for the race, the love of family and friends, and the thrill of the ride.

More riding schools - Marty Halmazna, Lexi Pechout, Stephen Foord

More riding schools - Marty Halmazna, Lexi Pechout, Stephen Foord

Check out these amazing opportunities to get a leg up on your riding skills.  Keep in mind that it is extremely hard to book a school with pro level competitors because they are so busy all year with competitions and their own vigorous training schedules.  I really don't know how club member Jeff Reynolds was actually able to schedule these schools, so DON'T MISS OUT!! check out bio information on trainers through the website EVENT page.
With the Redbull Rocks and Logs endurocross event coming up Sep 20-21, it's a great opportunity to get tips on your riding techniques.

Thursday, August 28th (evening class) - Enduro training with Marty Halmazna and Lexi Pechout - $100
  • renowned Hard Enduro competitor, Marty Halmazna has so much to offer with tips on racing mindset, endurance and making goals and of course, he definitely knows a thing or two about riding a motorcycle...he is one of few Canadians to compete at Erzberg, Hell's Gate and Last Man Standing world enduros.
  • A women's touch and proof that you can 'ride like a girl' and still beat the boys!  Seriously though, Lexi Pechout can teach you ways to improve your riding without beating up yourself physically....learn the easy way to conquer obstacles.
  • endurocross area at the wildrose motocross association (park)
One on One hour sessions with Stephen Foord - the trials and technical offroad guru $50
  • endurocross area at the wildrose motocross association (park)

AUG9 - Redbull Rocks and Logs Volunteers Needed

Alright, track has been re-designed and the initial build will commence after August Long Weekend.  Kevin Pelletier will once again work his magic to shape the new track and then I am hoping to get some top notch volunteers (like last year!) to help with miscellaneous work on August 9th.  We have the tree section to extend, relocate/build new matrix, relocating the fire wood pit, creating a new X-factor log section, placing/fastening additional logs, creating a joker lane, etc.

Red Bull will be supplying lunch and drinks (Red Bull of course to keep your energy up) and plan to start at 10AM.

I am looking for 10 volunteers to pitch in (will be additional Swag perks of course courtesy Red Bull and event sponsorsJ), so please reply to this email or phone, so I can keep track of things.  I will need those coming to bring some tools such as that shown below, so also include details on what you have just in case I need to rent some:

-          Drills (I could really use 2 industrial drills with minimum 1” auger bit)
-          Sledge Hammers
-          Pick Ax
-          Shovels
-          Chainsaws
-          Axe
-          Generator and Power Cords
-          Anyone with minimum 3/8” rebar or sucker rod (at least 3’ lengths) for donation or sale, please anti up.
-          Hammers
-          Welders to fab some log braces would be sweet
-          Even another skid steer to move stuff around and misc. work.

PS – Event Date is Sept. 20/21 and should be going live for registration very soon!

SGC Raises the bar for Off-Road in Alberta.

SGC is proud to announce a couple things to its off-road Series.
Its main sponsor MRSI has supplied a new live scoring system for the club. What does this mean? Live, real time, lap by lap times for riders to see. When u come into the check, you will get a scan, and an instant Position in the Race, and how far you are from the guy infront of you. Basically an instant pit board saying where you stand. This should light a fire under some riders to pin it!

Additionally, SGC's members Mitch Brown and Kristi Moore ( have got a cool new Quad Copter with all the bells of whistles to capture dirt bike events across Western Canada, this thing is too cool.

Check out a video they put together for us while we were out at the CSMX ranch for the 2014 Chris Bonneau Classic. Another one should be up soon of more footage and the team bump race!

Check out these aerial photos they got as well

25 Volunteers required for Sunday 8AM fundraiser.

We need your help!

Need 20-25 volunteers for Sunday, 8AM-noon - Calgary NE - see info from club member Jeff:

Hey! I have approached my work regarding fund raising and how the Second Gear Club can benefit from this. Part of our business is Diversified Staffing Services, which provides temporary help to business in need of short term employees. In the past we have worked with sports teams, churches, etc where there has been a big order for personnel coming in and the charity group has provided the people to fill the request and all monies collected goes to the charity with no government burdens having to be paid. Most best example of this would be the flood last summer where different charities donated their time and large corps paid out thousands dollars. One church group had many volunteers out for 2 weeks at the Stampede Grounds & High River and raised over $30,000 for their church!

I have been given the opportunity to provide 25 people for an inventory count at CMP (car dealership) this Sunday April 27th at 8am for 4-5 hours paying $14 an hour. That’s $1750 that could be donated to the club for 5 hours of your commitment, and you still have time to go for a ride in the afternoon!. If all goes well we could be provided with other opportunities like this thru the year… simple work, easy cash, great for the club!

I’m looking for volunteers that have steel toed footwear, 18 years of age or over and can count! If interested let me know, I’ll call or send you the details!

Thanks, looking forward to your support!!
